Susan Morris has expertise in the market research and analysis, marketing, branding, and sales strategies of residential and mixed use communities, hotels, tourism destinations, and shared officing environments.  An expert on how people live, work and play, Susan analyzes the implications of consumer lifestyle trends and determines their impact on projects.

Susan oversaw the customer research, design, marketing and sales of 118 on Munjoy Hill and Luminato as well as four mixed use developments in Washington, DC.  Prior to NewHeight Group, Susan’s varied work experience includes 13 years for Marriott International in brand management, marketing, national accounts, and sales. She has also worked internationally for Canadian Pacific and Savoy Hotels. She was VP, Brand Strategy and Marketing for HQ Global Workplaces which offers fully staffed business centers for use on a short or long term basis in 17 countries worldwide.

Since joining NewHeight Group in 2001, Susan has worked on almost a dozen residential, mixed use and destination community projects in the US and Canada. Clients consistently commend her for offering originality, having a commitment to excellence in everything, having integrity and follow through and having contagious energy.

In Maine, Susan has actively engaged in Maine’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and helped launch several programs through organizations such as Maine Startup and Create Week, House of Genius, Greenlight Maine, Maine Angels, MCED/Top Gun, Envision Maine, Women Standing Together, and Creative Portland’s 2 Degrees Portland.

Prior to becoming a Principal of NewHeight Group, Susan held the following positions:

VP, Brand Strategy and Marketing, HQ Global Workplaces

Developed branding and marketing concept for flexible workplace solutions. Launched global chain of fully staffed business centers for use on a short or long term basis. Merged 500 centers in 17 countries. HQ was acquired by Regus.

Principal, Renaissance Leadership

Held responsibility for business development and service delivery. Provided corporate leadership development consultation to CEO’s and senior management of Fortune 5000 companies.

Executive, Marriott International

Spent 13 years with Marriott in brand management, marketing, national accounts, and sales. Specific positions included:

  • VP, Brand Strategy, Sales and Marketing, Marriott Conference Centers
    Responsible for rolling out the brand that provides dedicated full-service meeting environments
  • National Account Executive, Marriott National Accounts
    Responsible for Global Accounts such as IBM and Hewlett Packard
  • Regional Director of Sales and Marketing. Responsible for almost 30 properties.

Earlier in her career, Susan held positions with the Canadian Pacific and Savoy Hotel chains. She is co-author of the textbook, Hospitality Sales: A Marketing Approach.
